Concordia i angrebshumør

Med kun to etaper tilbage af Tour of Qinghai Lake, var det i dag holdets sidste reelle chance for at avancere i det samlede klassement, og selvom der på dagens 220 km etape fra Zhangwei til Baiyin var et par udfordringer undervejs, var stigningerne desværre ikke stejle eller lange nok, til at holdet rigtigt kunne gøre en forskel. Det var derfor et samlet felt, der ligesom på de sidste dages etaper, kom buldrende over målstregen i en hektisk massespurt i målbyen Baiyin.

Både Magnus Cort og Sebastian Balck var godt med fremme i afslutning og blev henholdsvis nummer 13 og 20 på etapen. Etapen blev vundet af italienske Andrea Guardini (Farnese Vini – Selle Italia), der med sejren snuppede sin tredje etapesejr.

”Vi vidste godt, at det i dag var vores sidste mulighed for at rykke ved klassementet. Vi vidste også at det ville blive svært. Rytterne forsøgte, forsøgte en gang mere og forsøgte så igen, men ingen fik lov at komme af sted, det ville hverken de førende teams eller de stærke sprintere tillade - ingen kan dog beskylde os for ikke at have prøvet. Vi må nok se i øjnene, at vi ikke får en rytter i top-10 i det samlede klassement, som vi havde håbet. På etapen i morgen er der med sikkerhed ingen, der får lov at køre væk – det bliver en kamp sprinterne imellem,” forklarer Rene Wenzel efter etapen.

Efter 12. og næstsidste etape er der fortsat ingen forskydninger i toppen af klassementet og Lars Andersson vil formodentlig som bedst placerede Team Concordia Forsikring Himmerland rytter slutte som nummer 21. Inden det endelige resultat foreligger, er der dog lige et sidste slag, der skal kæmpes, og der vil holdet gøre alt for at slutte af med maner.   

På 13. og sidste etape, Lanzhou Circuit Race, skal rytterne ud på seks omgange af 15,7 km – i alt 94,2 km, hvorefter både etapevinderen og vinderen af det samlede klassement i dette års Tour of Qinghai Lake kan kåres.
