Dominguez vandt massespurt i Georgia

nullTour de Georgia blev i dag indledt med en relativ flad og hurtig etape fra Tybee Island til Savannah. Den blot 113,5 km lange etape skabte som ventet ikke den store udskilning i feltet og endte i en massespurt, hvor den cubanske rytter Ivan Dominguez (Toyota - United Pro Cycling Team) timede spurten perfekt og tog sejren foran Nicholas Sanderson (Jelly Belly) og Gerolsteiners Robert Förster.

Etapen blev indledt med en masse udbrudsforsøg, der endte med, at Garrett Peltonen (Bissell), Scott Nydam (BMC), Christian Meier (Symmetrics), Bernard Van Ulden (Jelly Belly Cycling Team), Frank Pipp (Health Net-Maxxis) og Ivan Stevic (Toyota United) fik hul til feltet. Udbruddet holdt helt frem til fire kilometer fra mål, hvor sprinterholdene som ventet tog over. Gerolsteiner fik placeret Robert Förster perfekt til sprinten, men Ivan Dominguez teten med 200 meter til mål og ingen kunne kæmpe sig forbi på det teknisk svære opløb.

Ivan Dominguez tog selvfølgelig også førertrøjen.
