Unibet.com vandt i sidste løb

nullHerald Sun Tour sluttede med et fantastisk gadeløb i Melbournes gader. 80 minutter plus tre omgange på den 2,5 kilometer lange rute skulle tilbagelægges, og det blev et sandt festfyrværkeri, hvor rytterne kom ind i små grupper, og et dusin ryttere blev endda hentet med en omgang.

Dagens vinder blev Aaron Kemps fra Astana, som i spurten slog henholdsvis Scott Zwizanski (Bissel-Priority Health) og Camiel Denis fra det hollandske landshold.

Den førende rytter, Matthew Wilson fra Unibet.com holdet, lagde sig hele dagen i hjul på sine farlige konkurrenter, og godt hjulpet af Jimmy Casper og Baden Cooke lykkedes det holdet at tage den samlede sejr i holdets sidste løb. Steve Morabito (Astana) og Trent Lowe (Jayco Australian National Team) blev henholdsvis toer og treer.

Team CSCs Stuart O’Grady valgte at udgå på dagens etape, men kan glæde sig over, at han har fået et flot comeback efter sit grimme styrt i Tour de France.
