Årets første sejr til Tornado Tom

nullTom Boonen vandt i dag 2. etape af Tour of Qatar. Efter flere udbrud endte den 137,5 km lange etape fra Al Zubarah til Doha Golf Club i en spurt. Quickstep havde inden da brugt sidevinden til at sætte de øvrige konkurrenter. Det betød også, at der blev store tidsforskelle på etapen. 

Tom Boonen var stærkest og vandt etapen foran Greg Van Avermaet (Silence-Lotto) og Danilo Napolitano (Lampre-Fondital). Etapen blev kørt i et rasende tempo med hele 55,5 km/t i snit. Boonen overtager dermed også førertrøjen fra holdkammeraten Matteo Tossato.

Danske Frank Høj blev nummer 96 på dagens etape - 8 minutter og 12 sekunder efter dagens vinder.
